Lawrence Twisdale, 50, pleaded guilty this week to assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her son in 2021, weeks after she broke up with him.

According to court documents, in August 2021, Twisdale went to 411 P Street NW early in the morning, where his ex lived.

When he arrived at the townhouse, Twisdale was initially allowed inside, but prosecutors say that she quickly realized that he was under the influence of PCP, and an argument broke out about his drug use, prompting him to break out a black folding knife.

Twisdale began wildly swinging the knife at his ex, knocking her over, and striking her in the face, the back, and left arm with the knife, causing multiple lacerations.

His victim's son then came into the room to intervene, at which point Twisdale began swinging the knife and stabbing him in the chest. Twisdale then fled the home as paramedics were arriving to the home.

He was arrested later that day by members of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Twisdale pleaded guilty in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (a knife). He is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
